Tips for Perfect Eyebrows!

( All About Brows Kit by Anastasia, Available at Sephora, $75 )

What You'll Need:
Tweezers
Eyebrow Scissors
Eyebrow Brush
Angled Brush
Eyebrow Powder or Pencil
Brow Gel

The first step to getting perfect eyebrows is to shape them. The important part of shaping your brows is to make sure not to over pluck them! Also, it's important to not try and get them to match perfectly. Eyebrows should look like sisters, not twins. It's best to keep the natural shape of your eyebrows so just follow the natural shape and pluck the stray hairs. Be sure to pluck one hair at a time so you don't over pluck!

After you get rid of those stray hairs, brush your eyebrows upwards and trim the excess or extra long hairs with your scissors.

Next, fill in any sparse areas with your brow pencil or brow powder. Brow powder tends to be a bit easier to use and looks a little more natural. Use your angled brush and use light strokes. You can extend the "tail" of your eyebrows a bit if they are a little short.

If you used a pencil, use your angled brush to blend out the pencil strokes.

Last but not least, set your eyebrows and keep them in place with your brow gel!

The above kit has pretty much everything you'd need to get your eyebrows looking perfect! The kit is the All About Brows kit by Anastasia available at Sephora. This kit is a fantastic help in creating and maintaining your own perfect brows! It also makes it a bit easier for beginners!
Here's a little more info:

What it is:

- Four Brow Stencils
- Duo Angle/Spooley Brush
- Brow Gel
- Eye Lights highlighting pencil

Available in 4 shades:

Price: $75

Hopefully these tips will help you get the perfect eyebrows! You can also go to a salon and get them tweezed, waxed, or threaded and then maintain them and keep that shape by plucking the stray hairs every couple of days. I hope these tips ere helpful and feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments and don't forget to leave comments and share your opinions!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Vintage Edition 1960's Skin Protectant

This Online Exclusive product by Elizabeth Arden is a heavy duty skin protectant for dry skin of any kind! Personally, I used this product on a sun burn I got over a weekend of being out in the sun. My skin burns so easy, it's awful! I religiously use Sun block but alot of times, I get burned anyway. When I got home, I put some of the 8 hour skin protectant on and it really helped soothe my poor sun burned shoulders! I also use it around my eyes at night and on my lips when they're feeling a bit dry and chapped. It fixed that problem quite nicely after a day or two. In my opinion, this product would be excellent for someone who has really dry skin, to soothe minor sunburns, windburn or scrapes.

The packaging is adorable, inspired by "the Swingin' 60s"! A little of the product really goes a long way, just apply it as often as necessary. This cream protects with super emollients and Vitamin E. There is also an Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick with SPF 15 available specifically for those with chapped, cracked or dry lips!

Product Description: Remember the swinging sixties – totally groovy. Flower power...rock and roll... go go boots...miniskirts. Now you can relive it all with Eight Hour Cream 1960's Celebration of the Decades Collection.

You'll twist and shout when you dip into your Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, the original formula of ultra-moisturizing petrolatum, vitamin E and re-texturizing beta-hydroxy acid. It smoothes, soothes, heals and protects dry skin.

We started Eight Hour Cream Celebration of the Decades with the fabulous fifties and now we're on to the swinging sixties. Stay tuned for the next in our series. Peace.

Size: 75mL

Price: $45.00

My Opinion:
I've used it twice a week for three weeks and I have noticed a major difference in my skin. I have combination skin and alot of times I have the frustrating problems with products either making my skin too oily or drying it out. Luckily for me, this mask didn't to either of those things! I washed my face with my normal skin cleanser and then rinsed with warm water and applied the Balancing Clay Mask. I left it on for about 10 minutes and then rinsed it with warm water and splashed my face with cold water. I noticed my skin felt soft and really refreshed. There wasn't any drying or flaking at all!

After the second week of use, I noticed my skin was alot more even in tone, I had zero new break outs, my current breakout was lessening, and my t-zone seemed to be less oily. I personally found the product worked really well for me and it was easy to do twice every week for 10 minutes. This one gets two thumbs up from me, I loved it! It definitely made some impressive improvements in my skin!

Makeup Palettes by Lauren Luke

(My Smokey Classics by Lauren Luke)

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give you all a heads up on a new cosmetic line by the stunning Lauren Luke! I have been a fan of hers and have been watching her video tutorials for quite sometime now. I love to watch other makeup artists and "gurus" to see their work and she's one of the top talents, in my opinion. You may know her from YouTube as panacea81. This self taught makeup artist is incredibly talented and has gotten some well deserved attention because of it! (Okay, so the fact that she's sweet, pretty, funny and has an awesome accent probably didn't hurt either!)Lucky for us, she's been able to put out a makeup line and boy does it look awesome! Officially launching on April 27th, the 5 palettes look just beautiful and the swatches Ms. Lauren did in her video about her new line look quite impressive! The colors look really pretty and pigmented. Each palette comes with everything you'd need to create a beautiful daytime or evening look.

Here's what the different palettes contain:

2 Shadow Primers (light/dark)
3 Eye Shadows
1 Eye Liner
1 Blush
2 Lip Colors

Palette Photos:

I can't wait to scoop these up and try them out! (I know my mom is gonna grab "My Luscious Greens" for sure! Hehe) I think these would be great for anyone who loves experimenting with makeup or for anyone who wants and all-in-one kit that they can flip open, use, and head out the door. Head on over to Make Up by Lauren Luke to check out Lauren's videos, more information about her and her upcoming makeup line!

What Lipstick Formula Should I Choose?

(Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Lipstick, $30- Available at Neiman Marcus. )

Choosing the right lip formula for you all depends on what particular lip look you're going for. Different formulas offer very different finishes and looks. So here is a run down on what different formulas will do for you:

Cream Formulas: This formula is very moisturizing and provides rich, pigmented color. Cream formulas are easier to apply than matte formulas. They tend to not last quite as long as other formulas but they come in a very wide variety of colors.

Matte Formulas: Probably not the best option for people with very dry or chronically chapped lips. Matte lipsticks provide beautiful, rich color and looks best with a defined lip line. Applying this formula can be a little tricky but can be made easier by using a lip brush. Use a lip liner in the color of your chosen lipstick shade or your natural lip color to create a defined lip before filling it in with your lipstick and lip brush.

Lip Stain Formulas: This can also be drying to the lips but is very long lasting. Stains can be subtle or have some punch depending on which shades you choose. Usually this formula comes with it's own applicator which makes it easier to apply.

Gloss Formulas: Probably the quickest and easiest of all formulas to apply. Just whip it out and swipe it on! Great for dry lips and can be worn over lipsticks for added shine or on it's own. Glosses can be very sheer (or clear) or pretty well pigmented. Lots of shade options!

Well, those are the main lip formulas. Do you have a favorite formula or one you really dislike? Personally, I'd have to say that I use cream formulas on a frequent basis and probably more than all the others. So let me know what your favorites are! Do you have a favorite brand?

Great Skin for Spring: How to Care for Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin can be a very tricky skin type to care for. It's hard to find products that don't inflame your skin and at the same time improve the look and feel of your skin. There are, luckily, some great products made to help take care of sensitive skin. A lot of organic products are fantastic for this skin type. There are some rules that generally apply when taking care of more sensitive skin types so here are some tips to whip that skin into shape!

Tip #1: This is important! Find a fragrance-free facial cleanser, if it is made specifically for sensitive skin types, even better! But added fragrances can lead to redness and irritation of sensitive skin.

Tip #2: Go ahead and skip using any kind of toner as it can just irritate skin. If you feel you would rather not skip this step, make sure to use an alcohol and fragrance free toner that is hypoallergenic and gently pat it on with a cotton pad.

Tip #3: Using a fragrance free moisturizer is absolutely essential. Try a light cream moisturizer with Aloe Vera or Olive Oil in it.

Tip #4: If you're going to be exposed to sun, it's so important to protect sensitive skin with a sunblock that is preferably zinc oxide-based. Sun exposure can damage sensitive skin, causing wrinkles, redness, burning, flaking, etc.

Tip #5: Don't skip exfoliating sensitive skin! Just use a very mild, gentle exfoliator and only do it once a week.

Tip #6: Using a hydrating or calming face mask would be an added bonus to give sensitive skin a boost!

These tips should help you in taking care of your sensitive skin. Skin care is a process and it's something you have to do pretty religiously to get good results! It takes a little time to weed out products that don't work for you to find the ones that do. Don't get frustrated and give up! If you're really struggling with sensitive skin issues, make an appointment with a dermatologist. They can really help you find the perfect routine and treatments for you!
